Bellinger to serve as interim VP to lead Purdue's fundraising efforts
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Robin Bellinger, Purdue's associate vice president for advancement, will serve as the university's interim vice president for development.
"Robin has held numerous leadership roles with our fundraising team since she joined Purdue in 2002. She is well qualified to provide both organizational and strategic leadership while we conduct a national search for this vice presidency," President France A. Córdova said.
Bellinger recently has conducted benchmark studies to identify the characteristics of the fundraising programs of the nation's other top land-grant universities. She also has been responsible for managing the development research staff and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing major gift support across campus schools, colleges and units. For the $1.7 billion Campaign for Purdue, which ended in July 2007, she led the Parents Campaign, Chicago Campaign, and the Faculty, Staff and Retiree Campaign.
She was co-chair of the campus design team for the Purdue strategic plan and serves on Purdue’s Master Plan Committee.
The University Development Office is currently raising $304 million for Access and Success, a campaign to provide scholarships and help students graduate. The office works with the Purdue colleges, schools and areas to plan, coordinate and implement fundraising programs involving Purdue students, alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations. Private gifts allow the university to fund programs, scholarships, fellowships, professorships, research, campus renovations and new facilities.
Bellinger serves on the board of directors of Leadership Lafayette and the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette as well as on the building committee for First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette. Since moving to Lafayette, she has served as a volunteer development consultant to many organizations, including Cary Home for Children, the Hanna Center, Leadership Lafayette, the Art Museum and the YWCA.
Before joining Purdue, Bellinger served as director of development at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she managed and coordinated annual and major gift activities. She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Mount Mary College in Wisconsin in 1997 and an executive master's in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2002.
In her new role, Bellinger will report to Murray Blackwelder, senior vice president for advancement, who announced earlier this year that he will leave Purdue June 30 to head a new foundation to raise money for the University of Missouri-Kansas City
