March 6, 2009 Literary Reading Series features 'A Map of the World' authorWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -The reading is 7:30 p.m. in Matthews Hall Auditorium, Room 210. Hamilton also will talk about the writing process at 10:30 a.m. on March 27 in the Hicks Undergraduate Library Bookstall. Both events, which are free and open to the public, are sponsored by the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program. Hamilton is the author of five novels, including "The Book of Ruth," which was awarded the PEN/Hemingway Award for First Fiction, and the international bestseller "A Map of the World," which was selected for the Oprah Book Club. She also is author of "Disobedience," a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, as well as "The Short History of a Prince" and "When Madeline Was Young." Her short stories have appeared in Harper's Magazine and Best American Short Stories. Hamilton lives, works and writes in an orchard farmhouse in Wisconsin.
