Women in Leadership Conference to feature speakers, workshops

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 10th annual Women in Leadership Conference on March 7 will focus on the achievements, challenges and working relationships that women face in the work force and in leadership roles.

The conference, "HerStory: Exposing Her Path … Sharing Her Journey," will run from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and will take place in Stewart Center and Purdue Memorial Union. It is open to all students. Registration is $20 and includes continental breakfast, lunch and conference materials.

The conference is presented by the Student Activities and Organizations area of the Office of the Dean of Students with major support from the Procter & Gamble Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Christine Hassler, a life coach, author and motivational speaker, will serve as the keynote speaker. Hassler, who has appeared on the "Today" show, CNN and many other television and radio shows, will speak about the "myth of having it all." Her message to young women is to not worry about "having it all" by anyone else's standards or checklist, but rather focus on creating lives that they want.

The conference also will feature a panel discussion and workshops featuring Patricia Boling, associate professor of political science and women's studies; Julie Eddleman, marketing director with Procter & Gamble; Susan Hallen, associate partner with IBM; Aida Muñoz of the Latino Coalition of Tippecanoe County; Loretta Rush, Tippecanoe Superior Court 3 judge; and Erika Splawn, recruiter consultant and owner of Splawn Consulting Group.
