Liberal arts seeking nominees for young alumni award

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's College of Liberal Arts is seeking nominations for the 2009 Emerging Voice Awards.

The award honors Purdue liberal arts alumni who are rising stars in their field and are 40 years old or younger at the time the award is given on Sept. 18. Nominations are due May 1, and more information is available online at https://www.cla.purdue.edu/alumni/awards/

Previous winners include a team leader and vice president of ID Management for Equifax, a director of special events for REACH Media/Tom Joyner Morning Show, chancellor at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark campus, a former child welfare policy director, an assistant professor at the University of Memphis and a poet. The 2009 winners will be announced during a Sept. 18 reception.

"The CLA Alumni Board created this award to recognize young alumni who are successfully achieving their career goals, serving their communities and representing the college's mission by shaping today's world while imagining a better one," said Chris Sharp, director of alumni relations and special events for the College of Liberal Arts.

The Awards Selection Committee, a group of six Liberal Arts alumni, makes its choices from the list of nominees, and the Liberal Arts dean and alumni board grant final approval.
