Purdue Theatre to stage dark classic 'Dracula'

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's Division of Theatre will present the classic thriller "Dracula" in the Nancy T. Hansen Theatre of the Yue-Kong Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts, 552 W. Wood St.

The production will take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 and 28 and March 4-7. There will be matinee showings at 3 p.m. March 7 and 8. A special preview of "Dracula" also will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26, with all seats general admission at a discounted price.

Purdue Theatre's production of "Dracula" is based on a close adaptation of Bram Stoker's popular Victorian novel of the same name, said Rich Rand, chair of the Division of Theatre. He said the story threatens the notion that people are immune to evil by showing glimpses of shadowy forces and a darkness that lurks within the human soul.

Tickets for the regular performances are $17 for the general public, $10 for students and $13 for seniors age 62 and older. Tickets to the Feb. 26 preview performance are $6.

Tickets for "Dracula" are available at the Pao Hall, Elliott Hall and Stewart Center box offices or by calling (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW.
