History department to present talk about science during Soviet times

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Karl Hall, a professor at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, will present "Atomic Physics and Soviet Socialism in Stalinist Russia" on Feb. 25 at Purdue University.

Hall's talk, which is free and open to the public, is 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. in the Lawson Building, Room 1142. The talk is sponsored by the Department of History.

Hall, who teaches the history of science and the intellectual history of Central and Eastern Europe, is co-editor of "Intelligentsia Science: The Russian Country, 1860-1960." Currently, he is researching the history of Soviet theoretical physics in the interwar period.
