Purdue Student Union Board elects new members for 2009

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Student Union Board of Directors for 2009 started their official duties last month.

The students, who were chosen by their peers, advisers and the Purdue Memorial Union director to serve on the board, will offer suggestions related to the management of the Union as well as organize numerous on-campus events.

The 2009 Purdue Student Union board executives are:

• President: Shannon Drew of Batesville, Ind., a junior majoring in chemical engineering.

• Vice president of administration and finance: Christopher Blake of Cicero, Ind., a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

• Vice president of personnel: Agnes Blachut of Willowbrook, Ill., a junior majoring in aviation management.

• Vice president of marketing and campus relations: Caylin Riley of Sharpsburg, Ga., a junior majoring in biology and pre-medicine.

The 2009 Purdue Student Union board directors are:

• Director of concerts: Eric Glover of Renton, Wash., a senior majoring in electrical engineering with a minor in economics.

• Director of cultural events: Sarah Pluckebaum of Indianapolis, a sophomore majoring in elementary education.

• Director of films: Jena Naylor of Austin, Texas, a junior majoring in hospitality and tourism management with an emphasis in food service.

• Director of fine arts: Klimentina Markoski of Crown Point, Ind., a sophomore majoring in prepharmacy.

• Director of homecoming: Megan Owen of Evansville, Ind., a junior majoring in communication with a minor in law and society.

• Director of recreation: Kristin Mahony of Barrington, Ill., a junior majoring in elementary education with a concentration in reading.

• Director of special events: Jenny Levin of Palatine, Ill., a freshman majoring in hospitality and tourism management.

• Director of traditional events: Amanda Sturges of Evansville, Ind., a freshman majoring in prepharmacy.

Involvement with the Purdue Student Union Board gives students educational opportunities beyond the classroom by providing hands-on experience that develops leadership skills.
