March 1 marks deadline for financial aid applications

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In order to receive priority consideration for federal, state and university-controlled financial aid, all current and newly admitted Purdue students must file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, by March 1.

"Students may still file after March 1, but the amount and types of aid available could be limited," said David Reseigh, Purdue's Division of Financial Aid outreach coordinator. "Our office has been busy providing financial aid filing information to current and admitted students and their parents through e-mail, area outreach programs and our financial aid Web site to remind them of the approaching deadline."

The FAFSA can be filed online at https://www.fafsa.ed.gov, and students and parents should sign the form electronically with a personal identification number issued by the Department of Education, Reseigh said.

At 2 p.m. Feb. 15, students and parents who need additional help with the form can attend College Goal Sunday at Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette in Ivy Hall, 3101 S. Creasy Lane, or at other locations around the state. More information about the event and a list of locations are available at https://www.collegegoalsunday.org/

For information about the financial aid process and filing the FAFSA, call the Division of Financial Aid at (765) 494-0998 or visit https://www.purdue.edu/DFA
