January 27, 2009 College of Technology to participate in welcome home for troopsCOLUMBUS, Ind. - Representatives from Purdue University's College of Technology will attend a welcome home celebration Saturday (Jan. 31) in Indianapolis for returning Indiana Guard soldiers to offer information about Purdue's degree programs around the state.The Indiana National Guard welcome home celebration will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium. The event is for Indiana Guard service members from the Air Force and the Army who have returned from deployment during 2008. Approximately 4,000 service members and their families are expected to attend. The event, which will feature exhibitions from universities and other groups, is open to the public. Jack Head, assistant director of the College of Technology at Columbus and Greensburg, said directors and staff from the college's 11 locations around the state will offer information about degree programs. The College of Technology Columbus and Greensburg offers degrees in mechanical engineering technology, computer and information technology, industrial technology, and organizational leadership and supervision. Purdue's College of Technology educates more than 5,400 students each year at its 11 locations throughout Indiana. In addition to Columbus/Greensburg and West Lafayette, Purdue has locations in Anderson, Muncie, Indianapolis, Kokomo, Lafayette, New Albany, Richmond and South Bend. Each location's programs and degree options vary and are dependent on regional work force needs.
