Purdue Student Government to sponsor inauguration viewing party

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Student Government is sponsoring a viewing party from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 20) to watch the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

The event will take place in Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom, where the inauguration will be broadcast on a large screen. It is free and open to the public.

"With the amount of attention that Indiana received this past fall during the elections, along with the historic occasion surrounding Barack Obama's election, we saw a very large and enthusiastic political scene at Purdue," said Eric Barnard, student body president. "As a way to highlight that enthusiasm and celebrate the outcome of our nation's democratic process, PSG and several other organizations at Purdue thought it would be fitting to hold such an event and allow students to view this once in a lifetime experience."

Light refreshments will be served at the viewing party, Barnard said.
