Appointments, honors and activities

• Appointments and promotions:

— Ryan Kough of Savannah, Ga., has accepted the position of art director with the Purdue Alumni Association, effective Jan. 12.

— Tammy Kettler is the new director of corporate relations for the College of Agriculture. Kettler, who earned a degree in agricultural economics from Ohio State University, has extensive fundraising experience.

— Jeffrey Weitekamp is the new director of development for the Krannert School of Management. He began Dec. 29. Weitekamp, who earned a degree in management from Purdue in 1998, previously was director of development for the Purdue Alumni Association and director of communications for the Indiana Sports Corporation.

— Tomalee Doan, associate professor of library science, has been named head of the John W. Hicks Undergraduate Library. Doan also will continue as head of the Management and Economics Library, said James L. Mullins, dean of Purdue Libraries. Doan joined Purdue Libraries in 2006 and prior to that was director at the Kresge Business Library in the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She is an active member in the Special Libraries Association and is co-chair of the Business and Finance Division's Mentoring Program.

 

• Faculty and staff honors:

— Arvind Varma, Purdue's R. Games Slayter Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and head of the School of Chemical Engineering, has been honored in a special issue of Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research magazine. The magazine published the "Festschrift," a collection of research papers in its Dec. 3 issue in recognition of the "many and very significant research contributions to subjects of interest to readers of this journal on the occasion of his 60th birthday," said the journal's editor, Donald R. Paul. "Our journal has a long tradition of doing special issues in honor of a colleague," said Paul, a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. The journal publishes five to eight Festschrifts annually.
