Interactive map will allow Purdue alumni, friends to track visits

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue President France A. Córdova will visit alumni and friends of the university nationwide in 2009 during Purdue On the Road events.

The visits will occur during tours of six cities from early January to March. For the first time, the public will be able to keep tabs on where Córdova is headed, thanks to an interactive map available on the president's Web page.

The map, viewable at https://www.purdue.edu/president/, will allow Web users to learn about alumni in the cities Córdova is visiting and confirm when she might be in a nearby location.

"On the Road events are an important part of staying connected with our Purdue alumni and friends," Córdova said. "I am looking forward to learning more about how the alumni in these cities are impacting our world."

Kirk Cerny, executive director and chief executive officer of the Purdue Alumni Association, said he hopes the interactive map will help alumni engage with Córdova and Purdue.

"It will be a great way to showcase Purdue's reach and provide alumni and friends one source to see where President Córdova will be making future visits," Cerny said. "I hope people have fun with it."

Purdue on the Road events are scheduled for the following locations in spring 2009:

* Jan. 15, Dallas

* Jan. 16, Houston

* Jan. 30, Atlanta

* Feb. 14-16, Naples, Fla.

* Feb. 24, San Francisco

* March 18, Boston

In addition to events and gatherings for all alumni, private events also are planned for members of Purdue's President's Council, who will be informed of those dates in advance through mailings, e-mails and club notices.

"We make sure when Purdue comes to town that alumni have the opportunity to gather, support and celebrate the alma mater," Cerny said.
