Appointments, honors and activities

• Appointments and promotions:

— Sandy Amass has been appointed the associate dean for engagement in the School of Veterinary Medicine. Amass has represented the School of Veterinary Medicine on the Associate Provost's Engagement Committee for the past two years. School of Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed said the position of the associate dean for engagement was created to coordinate existing engagement activities and lead the development of the school's engagement goals.

• Faculty and staff honors:

— Maria Marshall, Purdue Extension small business development specialist and associate professor, received the Hoosier Environmental Council's Sustainable Agriculture Outreach Award for her work in fostering the development of Indiana MarketMaker in the state. Indiana MarketMaker, at https://www.inmarketmaker.com, is a Web-based tool that connects consumers, agricultural businesses and farmers, and provides a one-stop shop to locate locally grown food products. The Hoosier Environmental Council is Indiana's largest statewide environmental organization and is working to reduce the footprint of industry, commerce and agriculture in the environment.

— Marc Rogers, professor in the Department of Computer and Information Technology, received a certificate of appreciation from the Indiana Public Defender Council on Dec. 12. Rogerswas honored for his efforts in education, research and training of defense counsel staff and work with the public defender's office.
