Subjects needed for two voice studies

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A Purdue University researcher is seeking individuals with vocal fatigue for two studies at the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences.

Professor Mahalakshmi Sivasankar, who is leading the studies, is looking for adults in general good health with no speaking or hearing disorders, but who are experiencing tiring of voice after speaking.

The first study, involving individuals ages 18-45, is scheduled for two sessions. The first is 30 minutes, and the second session is five hours. Participants will be paid $60. The second study, for adults ages 18-55, also has two sessions. The first is 20 minutes, and the second is two hours. These participants will receive $20.

Sivasankar is an expert in vocal fatigue, increasing vocal endurance and hydration issues related to the larynx. She is director of Purdue's Laryngeal Laboratory Research.
