November 21, 2008 Senior vice president honored for fundraising effortsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Blackwelder received the award Tuesday (Nov. 18) at the 25th annual Philanthropy Awards Dinner in Indianapolis. He was nominated by Jerry Semler, a Purdue alumnus and chairman of the board of OneAmerica Financial Partners; Lafayette-area volunteer and philanthropist Linda Rohrman; and Joe Seaman, president and chief executive officer of the Lafayette-West Lafayette Development Corp. Rohrman and Seaman were co-chairs of the local Campaign for Purdue. Blackwelder came to Purdue in 2001 and led the $1.7 billion Campaign for Purdue and is currently leading the university's $304 million Access and Success Campaign. The Association of Fundraising Professionals is composed of individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit, charitable organizations. It was founded in 1960 and has more than 26,000 members in 174 chapters around the world.
