High schoolers to get taste of Purdue life at Anderson Day in College
ANDERSON, Ind. - Area high school students will get a crash course in university life during a Day in College event Nov. 21 at the Purdue College of Technology at Anderson.More than 40 high school students from Madison, Delaware and surrounding counties have been recommended by counselors and teachers for the event that will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Anderson University Flagship Center, located at 2705 Enterprise Drive at Interstate 69 and Pendleton Avenue.
Barbara Alder, director of the College of Technology at Anderson/Muncie, said the program allows students to see the types of courses and degrees that Purdue offers in Anderson. Students selected for the program and their parents will have the opportunity to attend a customized course in each of the college's degree programs available in Anderson and talk with faculty, student services and financial aid representatives.
Students from Carmel, Madison-Grant, Elwood, Frankton, Anderson Highland, Liberty Christian, Pendleton Heights, Greenfield, Delta, Muncie Central, Muncie Southside, Cowan, Union Modoc and Monroe Central high schools will be in attendance. Some of the students were nominated by teachers at the Muncie Area Career Center and Hinds Career Center in Elwood.
The College of Technology's Anderson location offers bachelor's degrees in industrial technology and organizational leadership and supervision, associate degrees in computer and information technology and organizational leadership and supervision, and courses in electrical engineering technology. The Muncie location offers an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology.
