College of Technology at Anderson holding a 'virtual tailgate' Nov. 8

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Purdue College of Technology at Anderson is giving Boilermaker football fans in the area a chance to come together and cheer on their team as they take on Michigan State on Nov. 8 —without having to travel out of state.

The first virtual tailgate will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the College of Technology at Anderson location at the Anderson University Flagship Center, 2705 Enterprise Drive off Interstate 69 at Exit 22. Students, faculty and staff at the Anderson location are invited, as are local Purdue alumni and friends of Purdue.

Kickoff for the game in East Lansing, Mich., is at noon. A tent will be set up outside the building, and the game will be shown on a big-screen television in Room 272.

Barbara Alder, director of the College of Technology at Anderson/Muncie, said the goal of the event is to create a sense of community among students of the commuter campus, many of whom also hold down full-time jobs. She said she found that a common interest among students is sports, so she thought an event built around an away Purdue football game would be an ideal chance for students to connect, since most likely don't travel to away games.

Snacks and soft drinks will be provided, but participants are asked to bring their own lunch.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Alder said the campus's no-alcohol policy will be enforced, and anyone who violates this will be asked to leave the premises.

The College of Technology's Anderson location offers bachelor's degrees in industrial technology and organizational leadership and supervision, associate degrees in computer and information technology, and organizational leadership and supervision, and courses in electrical engineering technology. The Muncie location offers an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology.
