Race, Latino Election Experts

Stacey Connaughton, assistant professor of communication

Connaughton, an expert in organizational and political communication, looks at how the Republican and Democratic parties are courting Latino voters via political advertisements and other campaign messages, especially in the four states known as the Latino Quartet – Florida, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. She also can talk about the role the Latino demographic has played in past elections.

James McCann, professor of political science

McCann can talk about political issues related to the Latino population. In 2006, he began surveying Mexican immigrants regarding political participation and other civic issues.

Niambi Carter, assistant professor of political science

Carter's research interests are in African-American politics and politics of race. She also has published research on other black candidates, such as the 2004 presidential candidate Carol Moseley-Braun.
