Student TV news program will tape with studio audience

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's student-produced TV newsmagazine show is looking for audience members to attend the show's Oct. 23 live taping.

"Fast Track," which covers Purdue and local news each semester, will tape at 4:15 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room B-22. The event is free and open to the public.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Communication and is part of Experience Liberal Arts, a monthlong celebration to highlight the College of Liberal Arts.

Guests can observe the students in their roles as anchors, reporters and members of the studio crew, says Patricia Saul Rochon, "Fast Track" producer and clinical assistant professor. Studio guests will be invited on camera as a group during the taping. The show will air at 6 p.m. on Oct. 24, 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 26-30 daily.

Students in Rochon's newsmagazine production and video journalism class research and work on stories outside of class using the Department of Communication's equipment. They then produce and tape the newsmagazine during class in the department's Stewart Center studio.
