Third episode of Purdue program debuts

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The third episode of "Purdue Pride," a half-hour program featuring non-sports highlights from the first half of 2008, will premiere Thursday (Oct. 16) on the Big Ten Network.

The show, which is divided into four segments, is produced by Raymond Cubberley, director of Broadcast Services in the Office of Marketing and Media. The program is produced every six months, with each covering Purdue happenings from half of the year. The program is narrated by Kathy Bruni of Purdue Convocations.

"Purdue Pride" will be shown on the Big Ten Network multiple times during the next several months. The current scheduled showings are: 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 16), 4:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 20), 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 22), 4:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 4:30 a.m. Nov. 17 and 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19.

Highlights of "Purdue Pride's" third episode include: a story about new graduate Emma Preuschl as she prepared to compete in the paralympic games in Beijing, China; a feature about a new summer camp for children of military families; a look at Purdue students and staff devoting their Spring Break to cleaning up and repairing homes and a community center in coastal Louisiana damaged by hurricanes Katrina and Rita; video showing the far-flung travels of several Purdue student groups, including the Latino Cultural Center, the "All-American" Marching Band and the Varsity Glee Club; the inauguration ceremony for university President France A. Córdova and academic symposia associated with the inauguration; a look at the university's new six-year strategic plan; and a story about the Access and Success fundraising campaign.
