Music series to feature open mic night, acoustic concert

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - An open mic night on Friday (Oct. 17) will give aspiring Purdue student musicians, poets and comedians a chance to show off their talents.

The event, sponsored by the Purdue Student Union Board and Starbucks, will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Purdue Memorial Union Commons on the ground floor near Starbucks.

The Starbucks Music Series will continue that weekend with an acoustic show at 4 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 19) in the Union Commons. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Sunday concert will feature Cahill, which is comprised of Boston natives Bob Antonelli and Scott O'Brien, who have been friends since age 5. Since releasing their debut album, "Blend," in 2005, the duo has toured throughout the northeast, performing in a variety of venues, from coffee houses to music clubs. Their latest album, "At The Seams," was released in the fall of 2007.
