October 3, 2008 'Chicago' to bring 'All That Jazz' to Purdue stageWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Broadway's hit "Chicago," a tale of murder, corruption and all that jazz, will be presented by Purdue Convocations at 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Elliott Hall of MusicBased on the 1926 play by the same name, "Chicago" is the story of nightclub dancer Roxie Hart, who dreams of starring in vaudeville. After she kills her lover in a crime of passion, Hart hires Chicago's shrewdest defense lawyer, who turns her trouble into celebrity headlines. Hart becomes the toast of the town - until other crimes pull the limelight away from her. Created by John Kander and Fred Ebb (known for their hit musicals "Cabaret" and "Kiss of the Spider Woman") and choreographer Bob Fosse, "Chicago" first opened on Broadway in 1975 and ran 898 performances. Its current Broadway revival - on which this tour is based - opened in November 1996 and is still running. "Chicago" is produced by Troika Entertainment, which has been producing musical theater throughout North America, Europe and Asia for more than 20 years. Tickets are $20-45 for adults and $20-32 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students.
