October 2, 2008 Purdue Bands to pay tribute to events, eras, people during concertWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Symphonic Band and Fall Concert Band will perform at 2:30 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 5) at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.The concert, titled "Tributes!," also will include the department's newest ensemble, the Purdue Philharmonic, who will perform Mozart's last symphony, the "Jupiter Symphony." The performance is free and open to the public. Throughout the performance, the groups will play a variety of pieces in different genres that are meant to serve as a tribute to someone or something, whether it's an event, a person or an era, said Jay Gephart, director of Purdue Bands and the symphonic band.
