ATOS Trio to perform Beethoven, Shostakovich at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The ATOS Trio will take the Loeb Playhouse stage to perform trios from Beethoven and Shostakovich along with an Andalusian-inspired trio by Joachín Turina at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

The concert is presented by Purdue Convocations as part of its Classics series.

Formed in 2003 by violinist Annette von Hehn, cellist Stefan Heinemeyer and pianist Thomas Hoppe, the ATOS Trio has charmed critics and audiences with a series of recitals, as well as concerts and at festivals throughout Europe, South America and the United States.

In 2007 the ATOS Trio won the grand prize, first prize, special prize and audience prize at the fifth Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. This was the first time a single ensemble garnered this many honors. The trio also was named winner of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, a biennial honor bestowed by an association of 20 chamber music presenters, including Purdue Convocations. It was created to encourage and enhance the careers of accomplished and promising young and rising piano trios, said Abby Eddy, marketing director for Purdue Convocations.
