Political experts forecast the election during panel discussion

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University political and communication experts will try to answer the "what ifs" about the Nov. 4 presidential election.

The free and public event, "Forecasting the November Elections: What Can We Expect on November 4?" is 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Pfendler Hall of Agriculture's Deans Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and is part of Experience Liberal Arts, a monthlong celebration highlighting the College of Liberal Arts.

James McCann, professor of political science, is moderating the discussion that will cover the candidates, public opinion and race issues. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Panel participants are Niambi Carter, an assistant professor of political science; William Shaffer, professor of political science; Bert Rockman, professor and head of the Department of Political Science; Stacey Connaughton, assistant professor of communication; and Rosalee Clawson, associate professor of political science.
