September 23, 2008 Ralph's World to bring kid-friendly music to West LafayetteWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Ralph's World, a pop-rock group led by Ralph Covert, will perform in a family-friendly concert at 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in the University Plaza Hotel Ballroom at 3001 Northwestern Ave. in West Lafayette.Purdue Convocations is presenting the concert as part of its Family Adventures series. The concert, which includes music from a range of genres, is recommended for children ages 2 to 8. Covert also is the front man of The Bad Examples, a Chicago-area band. He takes the same approach to children's music, incorporating wry, inventive lyrics and sophisticated arrangements into songs like "At the Bottom of the Sea" and "King of the Alphabet," said Abby Eddy, director of marketing for Purdue Convocations. Ralph's World got its start more than a decade ago and has released seven albums, including the Grammy-nominated "Green Gorilla, Monster & Me." General admission tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students.
