August 21, 2008 Annual plant sale to benefit Purdue Panhellenic AssociationWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Panhellenic Association will hold its annual plant sale from Sunday through Wednesday (Aug. 24-27) in the Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom. The plant sale, which is free and open to the public, will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Proceeds go to the Panhellenic Association, the student-run governing and program body for sororities at Purdue. There will be a wide variety of plants on sale from Bennett's Nursery, with a wide range of prices and sizes, said Diane Blackwelder, Panhellenic Association adviser. "Bennett's Greenhouse also grows special plants for this sale that they do not offer at their Lafayette greenhouse," she said. "This event gives students, faculty, staff and the community a chance to buy plants that are suitable for residence halls, offices, apartments or homes. Sales staff will be on hand to help visitors pick out appropriate varieties for the location in mind, and they can help visitors with any plant questions they may have." In addition to plants and pots, other supplies, such as fertilizer and watering cans, will be available. Blackwelder said Bennett's Greenhouse also will offer free delivery of plants within the local area.
