Purdue leaders will be in Hamilton County on July 18 to visit with community leaders.

Purdue President France A. Córdova and other university officials will visit Midwest ISO, Interactions Corp. and King Systems Corp., among other locations. Victor L. Lechtenberg, Purdue's vice provost for engagement, said the university welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with the communities of Carmel and Noblesville.

"Hamilton County has enjoyed robust economic growth in recent years" Lechtenberg said. "Purdue wants to continue to work with county officials to make sure companies are aware of Purdue's resources and our willingness to be partner in educational and economic progress."

Several activities are scheduled for the visit:

* 9:15 a.m. - Tour Midwest ISO, 701 City Center Drive, Carmel. Midwest ISO is an independent, nonprofit organization that delivers electricity in 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. Ninety-five of its employees are Purdue students or graduates. The company also has hired 10 Purdue summer interns.

* 11:30 a.m. - Attend Carmel Rotary Club luncheon at Oak Hill Mansion, 5801 E. 116th St., Carmel. Córdova will speak about Purdue's new strategic plan, the new Purdue-Indiana University life science partnership proposal to the General Assembly and the "Discovery, Development, Delivery Highway" running through Indiana.

* 1:45 p.m. - Visit Interactions Corp., 14390 Clay Terrace Blvd., Suite 205, Carmel. The Interactions Service Factory is a real-time service assembly line that shifts tasks between different humans and automation. By dividing a customer phone call into minor tasks that are handled by different people as the call moves through time, automation only is used for those parts of the calls where it can effectively deliver results.

* 3 p.m. - Tour King Systems Corp., 15011 Herriman Blvd., Noblesville. King Systems Corp. designs and manufactures anesthesia and critical care products. Purdue Technical Assistance Program experts have trained their managers in advanced manufacturing techniques designed to eliminate waste and maximize profitability.

Córdova was selected in May 2007 as Purdue's 11th president. She took office in July after having served as chancellor of University of California, Riverside, since 2002. She previously served at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she had been vice chancellor for research and a professor of physics. Before that, she was the first woman and youngest person to hold the position of NASA chief scientist, working on projects that included the Hubble Space Telescope.
