Purdue Research Park Golf Scramble includes several All-American Purdue athletes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Research Park Golf Scramble, which is open to the public, features former and current Purdue University athletes including All-American Leroy Keyes and current quarterback Curtis Painter.

The July 10 event, to be held at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, begins with registration at 11 a.m., a noon lunch and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The day-long scramble concludes with a 5 p.m. awards reception at the complex.

Keyes was a Purdue All-American athlete in 1967 and 1968 and finished second in the 1968 Heisman Trophy voting. He played professional football for five seasons in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990. He is an assistant director for the John Purdue Club.

Painter received the Manning Award Watch List in 2006 and 2007 and was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection, as voted by coaches and media representatives.

Other Purdue athletes at the golf scramble include:

* Chris Clopton, a four-year football letter winner who was a senior on the 2000 Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl team. He broke the Purdue record for most kickoff returns yards with 1,553 yards in 2000.  He is an assistant director for the John Purdue Club.

* Brittany Dildine played women's basketball and volleyball. She was named MVP of the Mortar Board Premier in 2006 and was ranked third in Big Ten volleyball aces during her junior and senior years at Purdue.

The Purdue Research Park Golf Scramble sponsorships include $150 for individual; $450 for premium for a foursome and one-hole sponsorship sign; $575 for a gold sponsor for a foursome, one-hole sponsorship sign and recognition in program; and a $750 celebrity sponsor for a threesome and celebrity golfer, one-hole sponsorship sign and recognition in program. All sponsorships include lunch and reception.
