June 25, 2008 Emergency preparedness filming scheduled near Freehafer HallWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's Office of the Vice President for Business Services, in conjunction with the Purdue police and fire departments, will film an emergency preparedness training video on Friday (June 27).Filming is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. near Freehafer Hall at the south end of Grant Street. No streets will be closed to traffic. If the filming is rained out, it will be done at a later date. Organizers will simulate a hazardous materials situation and an evacuation of Freehafer Hall, though the building will not actually be evacuated. Firefighters will be wearing hazardous materials gear, and a simulated injury also will be part of the scenario. The situation will be filmed as a training tool for business services employees, said Joseph Braun, a member of the business services emergency planning initiation group. "We want people who might be in the area to know that we're filming a training video and it's not a real emergency," Braun said. Filming that will involve fire department equipment is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. near the front of Freehafer Hall, and filming with police and fire units will continue through 6 p.m. at the rear of the building.Writer: Jim Bush, (765) 494-2077, jsbush@purdue.edu Source: Joseph Braun, (765) 494-7412, joebraun@purdue.edu
