Conference to focus on purposeful living for retirees

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Two Purdue educators will be featured at an April 23 conference sponsored by the Purdue University Retirees Association.

Katherine Markee, associate professor of library sciences and oral history librarian, and Dan Mroczek, professor of child development and family studies, will speak during two sessions of the conference, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at University Plaza Hotel, 3001 Northwestern Ave., West Lafayette.

The registration fee for the conference, Purposeful Living in Retirement, is $10 per person, which includes lunch and conference materials.

Conference sessions include Preserving Family History for Future Generations with Markee; morning exercise with personal trainer Sidney Pellissier; Discovering Your Second Career: My Story with Doris Myers, an artist educator; Personality and Longevity in Purposeful Living with Mroczek; A Spiritual Bucket List by keynote speaker the Rev. Dan Berger Sr., pastor of First United Methodist Church; and Solutions for Caregivers with Bruce Achterkirch, national account manager for United Health Group, Evercare.

The day also will include refreshments and exhibits.
