April 7, 2008 More than 30 employers to attend I-69 Corridor Job Fair in AndersonANDERSON, Ind. - The Purdue College of Technology at Anderson/Muncie is co-sponsoring a job fair April 16 in Anderson.The second annual I-69 Corridor Job Fair will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at Mounds Mall, which is the other sponsor of the event. The mall is located at 2109 S. Scatterfield Road in Anderson. Dave Riegle, Purdue's Anderson/Muncie student services coordinator, said the job fair will give people an opportunity to see what jobs are available in a wide variety of industries. "We had a tremendous response to the fair last year, and this year we have 34 companies attending, representing many fields, from construction to education to health care to the financial industry," he said. "Openings include everything from entry-level positions that require little skill to jobs that require a bachelor's degree or higher." Participating companies and organizations include Purdue College of Technology at Anderson/Muncie, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Red Gold Inc., Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, ACS (Affiliated Computer Services), Carter Express, Countryside Manor Health and Living, Independent Federal Credit Union, Target, Pendleton Corrections Complex, Youth Opportunity Center, Ricker Oil Co., First Merchants Corp., Indiana Army National Guard, Kelly Engineering Resources, Manpower, Community Longer Term Care, Center for Mental Health, Rawlins House, Teleperformance USA, Express Personnel Services, Sonata Studios, Kleenco Maintenance and Construction, Andy Mohr Mitsubishi, Meijer Inc., Finlay Fine-Jewelry Corp., Bethany Pointe Health Campus, Schwans, Madison County Community Health Center, The Salon Professional Academy, Kelly Services, Indiana Business College, Mary Kay – Dana Porter, and the City of Anderson. Riegle said that in addition to giving those in the Anderson, Muncie and surrounding areas a chance to check out current job openings, the event will also educate the community about the opportunities available at the Purdue College of Technology in Anderson/Muncie. "We will have representatives from the university who will answer questions about what degree programs we offer and how to enroll," he said. "We do a lot of outreach with high school students, and we see this as an excellent opportunity to reach out to some potential nontraditional students." The College of Technology's Anderson location offers bachelor's degrees in both industrial technology and organizational leadership and supervision, and associate's degrees in computer and information technology, electrical and computer engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, and organizational leadership and supervision.
