NASA officials for Mars, lunar missions to speak at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Five members of a NASA team working on future human missions to the moon and Mars will discuss different aspects of the program during a lecture on Tuesday (Feb. 5) at Purdue University.

The lecture, at 3:30 p.m. in the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering, Room 1010, will highlight NASA's Constellation Program, which includes research to develop the Ares I launch vehicle and the Orion crew exploration vehicle, which are critical for the missions.

Purdue researchers are involved in the program, through the Constellation University Institutes Project. Purdue's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics organized the colloquium, which will include talks by five NASA officials: Mark Geyer, Orion Project manager and a Purdue alumnus; Claudia Meyer and Jeff Rybak, manager and deputy manager, respectively, of the Constellation University Institutes Project; Tom Brown, Propulsion Systems Division chief; and Richard Tyson, special assistant for the exploration office.
