January 29, 2008 Purdue Army ROTC to sponsor annual junior drill meetWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Fifteen junior ROTC drill teams will compete in an invitational drill meet on Saturday (Feb. 2) at Purdue University.The 34th annual Purdue Army ROTC Drill Meet draws junior ROTC drill teams from high schools in Indiana and Illinois and will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Purdue Armory. The meet is free and open to the public. Participating teams will perform in events including color guard, armed exhibition, unarmed exhibition and various individual events. Approximately 200 students are expected to compete, said Lt. Col. Dan Carpenter, head of the Army ROTC department and professor of military science and leadership. Competing high schools include: * Auburn High School from Rockford, Ill. * Chicago Military Academy from Chicago. * Concordia Lutheran High School from Fort Wayne, Ind. * Hubbard High School from Chicago. * Joliet Central High School from Joliet, Ill. * Joliet West High School from Joliet, Ill. * Lew Wallace High School from Gary, Ind. * Marmion Academy from Aurora, Ill. * Mattoon High School from Mattoon, Ill. * Pekin Community High School from Pekin, Ill. * Romeoville High School from Romeoville, Ill. * Roosevelt High School from Gary, Ind. * Springfield High School from Springfield, Ill. * Waukegan High School from Waukegan, Ill. * William A.
