Purdue Greek community, co-ops to open doors for trick-or-treating

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's Greek community and cooperative houses will participate in the annual Panhellenic Trick-or-Treat from 3-5 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 28).

Orange and black balloons will be located at the front of participating chapter houses. Maps of the participating houses also will be distributed starting at 2:30 p.m. at Third and Waldron streets.

Fraternity and sorority members and co-op residents will be dressed in costumes to greet children and hand out candy outside of their chapters. Parents can accompany their children to the houses for a safe trick-or-treating environment, said Stephanie Mancini, director of philanthropy for the Panhellenic Association. There is no cost to participate.

"This is a fun and safe alternative for children to celebrate Halloween with their friends and families," Mancini said. "Members of the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Association and cooperative houses are excited to contribute to the spirit of Halloween for the children of the Lafayette and West Lafayette communities. This event allows students to give back to their community and help create fun memories for children."

The Panhellenic Association sponsors the safe trick-or-treating event every year.
