Open mic night, acoustic concert to take place at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Aspiring musicians, poets and comedians will have the chance to spotlight their talents during an upcoming open mic night Friday (Sept. 21) in the Purdue Memorial Union.

The event, sponsored by Purdue Student Union Board and Starbucks, will take place from 6-8 p.m. in the Union Commons by Starbucks.

The Starbucks Music Series will continue that weekend with an acoustic show from 4-5 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 23) in the Union Commons. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Sunday concert will feature Ryan Adcock, voted Cincinnati's best singer/songwriter and best rock vocalist by the "Cincinnati Enquirer." Within the past year, Adcock has played in more than 100 venues in 39 states. His latest CD, "From Silence and Joy," has been played on more than 100 radio stations across the United States and Canada. Adcock also has performed in industry showcases for Sony, Epic, MCA and TVT records.
