First national homeland security career fair taking place at Purdue Sept. 5. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purdue Memorial Mall. Eta Sigma Iota, the nation's first homeland security professional fraternity in the country, in collaboration with Purdue's School of Health Sciences and the Purdue Homeland Security Institute, has put together the first national homeland security career fair. More than 30 companies will be in attendance, including the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rep to speak Sept. 6. 7-8:30 p.m. Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship. A representative of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will give a presentation in Room 121 of the Burton D. Morgan Center at Discovery Park. John Calvert will present an overview and talk about the office Web site, intellectual property and Supreme Court rulings that affect patents and trademarks. Bindley symposium to bring Korean researchers to Discovery Park Sept. 14. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Discovery Park's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship. Researchers from Korean Institute of Technology and Discovery Park will offer an international symposium called "Molecular Imaging and Theragnosis." The symposium will focus on a $4.5 million project to develop molecular imaging and nanotechnology tools to simultaneously diagnose and treat cancer and chronic and infectious diseases. Symposium sponsors are Purdue's Bindley Bioscience Center and Birck Nanotechnology Center, the Purdue Research Park and Billerica, Mass.-based Bruker Optics Inc. Family Day to include presidential Pancake Breakfast, Boilermaker BBQ Sept. 15. Various times and locations on Purdue's campus. President France A. Córdova will help serve up pancakes from 8-9 a.m. at the Purdue Armory during a breakfast to kick off Family Day. Following the football game versus Central Michigan, the Boilermaker BBQ will take place in Academy Park. Live music, food and various family activities will be featured. Regenstrief symposium to address Purdue health-care research Sept. 18. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stewart Center. The Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering will hold its fall symposium, Transforming Health-Care Delivery: Advancing Multidisciplinary Research, for Purdue researchers to learn about the progress of health-care research on campus. Latino Scholars Forum to highlight research Sept. 19. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stewart Center, Room 210. Presented by the Latino Faculty and Staff Association, the multidisciplinary forum will give Latino faculty and graduate students an opportunity to present their scholarly interests in an academic setting and discuss research with their peers for purposes of promoting Latino scholarship activity and the Latino community. A roundtable discussion on career development issues will follow, and university President France A. Córdova will give welcoming remarks.
