August 27, 2007 Purdue Musical Organizations Kids Choir auditions to be Sept. 9WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -The auditions will take place at 2 p.m. on the third floor of Purdue Musical Organizations in Elliott Hall of Music at University and Third streets. Boys and girls between the ages of 9-13 with unchanged voices are eligible to try out. "The PMO Kids Choir is a big commitment, but it's a great experience for the children," said Brian Breed, director of Purdue Musical Organizations. "We need kids who can sing, move and perform with great attitudes and lots of energy." A parent or guardian must accompany their child to the audition. Each child auditioning is encouraged to bring a written recommendation letter from a teacher, preferably a music teacher, but the letter is not required. At the audition, children will be taught a song and dance routine in a group setting. Then each child will perform the routine as the audition piece. The Purdue Christmas Show, which is viewed by more than 30,000 people each year, will run from Dec. 7-9. For information, call Purdue Musical Organizations at (765) 494-3941.
