Purdue students seek sites for upcoming volunteer workday

Sponsored by the Boiler Volunteer Network and staffed by students from a number of campus organizations, the annual event places student volunteers at different locations throughout the community from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help with spring cleaning chores. More than 1,100 students took part in last year's event, which is held in conjunction with West Lafayette's city neighborhood clean-up project Clean Sweep.

"Boiler Blast is just a small way that students can show their appreciation to the West Lafayette community," said Samantha Dummel, a senior in the College of Liberal Arts from Chesterton, Ind., and president of the Boiler Blast. "Volunteers will be going out to homes in the area and helping with a variety of projects, such as painting, gardening or washing windows for residents that may not be able to work on their own homes or yards."
