Indiana National Guard, Purdue sign agreement for Muscatatuck
INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the Indiana National Guard and Purdue University signed an agreement today (Thursday, Jan. 4), establishing a partnership in the further development of the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.The agreement establishes a formal working relationship between Purdue and the Indiana National Guard in the effort to develop the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center into a world-class site to train the joint, interagency, intergovernmental team in operations directed toward defending the homeland here and winning the peace overseas and to test and evaluate new technologies in support of those efforts.
"Our military and first responders selflessly put themselves on the line in defense of our communities and nation every day, and the training and technology at Muscatatuck will prepare them to continue to do so with confidence that their training is as relevant and realistic as possible," said Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger.
Under the agreement, the Indiana National Guard, a critical resource for the defense of the
United States and the training of military personnel and responders to national disasters, will have access to Purdue resources, expertise and research capabilities.
