This week's 'Thumbs Up' recipients

"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done.

This week's "Thumbs Up" go to:

Jo Gelfand: We would like to give a big "Thumbs Up" to Jo Gelfand of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. Jo was instrumental in organizing and coordinating the annual BME Advisory Board meeting and events as well as the annual Weldon Tailgate, which was enjoyed by more than 200 BME alumni, faculty, friends and staff.   We want to thank Jo for her hard work and determination in making these events a huge success! -- Dianna Livingston, Kathryn Cooper, Julia Colby, Kristy Fay

Christa Pazera: Christa Pazera from Meredith Hall deserves a big "Thumbs Up" for helping the Smalley clerical staff with their decoration needs for the Bosses Day breakfast feast. She proved very helpful in getting the right tablecloths, hot food item needs, and table decorations with just the right touch we were trying to achieve. Thank you, Christa, for everything from the lighter for the sterno's to providing even the cart to carry them over to Smalley Center -- Missy Wilson, Sharon Stokes, Debbie Johnson, Jennifer Rich, Jeri Parker, Dewanna Lank

Monte Brewer, Doug Edging, Jill Handy, Tim Wright, Josh Beeler, Jason Skeel, Dennis Reynolds, Alan Jeffries, Doug Helterbran, Jack Johnson, Steve Harrison, Cory Bryan, Sandi Smith, John Hardesty: This Physical Facilities project team was able to pull off the impossible: a working fume hood and a lab renovation by Sept 15. A new chemistry dean was coming to Purdue and needed a lab on the first floor of Brown. This construction crew was able to do all the room renovations, including installing a fume hood with all utilities, in record time. They did everything working closely together, without complaints, doing excellent work, and were able to keep the schedule. Thanks! -- Julie Hickman

Chris Skiba: I recommend Chris Skiba, Physical Facilities' Project Management and Construction Department's contract manager, for a very big "Thumbs Up." As Project Management and Construction wraps up another hectic summer construction season and began a reorganization this November, Chris shows again and again the value of good communication and teamwork in determining the success of a project. Construction inspectors, project managers and clients who have worked with Chris all know his dedication to maintaining scope, schedule and budget without sacrificing project performance or impact on faculty, staff and students. Thank you, Chris Skiba! -- Barb Mansfield
