November 12, 2009 Industrial Engineering to honor emeritus professorsThe School of Industrial Engineering will honor outstanding industrial engineering emeritus professors who helped contribute to the school’s successes and achievements at a reception Friday (Nov. 13). The reception, which is open to the public, is at 4:30 p.m. in the Anniversary Drawing Room, Purdue Memorial Union. Industrial engineering emeritus professors who will be attending are Jim Barany, Dale Compton, Ferd Leimkuhler, Jim Solberg, Tom Sparrow and Arnie Sweet. In addition to honoring its professors, the School of Industrial Engineering also will present a new book, "An Enduring Quest: The Story of Purdue Industrial Engineers" by Leimkuhler, at the reception. Leimkuhler is an industrial engineer who was a Purdue professor from 1961 to 2000 and head of the program for 18 years. The book was published by the Purdue University Press.
