This week's 'Thumbs Up' recipients

"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done.

This week's "Thumbs Up" go to:

Purdue Police: I just wanted to say thank you to the PUPD officers that brave the elements to direct traffic at the four-way stop on McCormick Road. The Purdue officers make the congestion created by the various construction projects around the county a little more bearable. Great job! -- Michelle Radtke

Marty Dahlstrom: Special thanks to Marty Dahlstrom from the political science department. For years she has been the "unrecognized" driving force behind United Way efforts in the College of Liberal Arts. She has made all of us who technically "chair" these efforts look good. We could never be successful without her. -- Howard Sypher

Kristi Trimble, Amy Ross and Brandi Bass: Kristi, Amy and Brandi did a fantastic job of organizing our celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Department of Biochemistry. The displays, the gift bags for the alumni, and all aspects of the program were absolutely top-notch. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to make the celebration a memorable one for our alumni and generate a lot of goodwill for our department. -- Clint Chapple

Jennifer Meyer: I would like to give a "Thumbs Up" for our laboratory technician Jennifer Meyer. Jennifer takes care of all the labs in the Forestry Building. Here in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, we have been extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Jennifer. She is a dedicated, hard-working and honest person. Jennifer goes above and beyond to make our labs a safe and enjoyable place to work. We have had the pleasure to work with Jennifer for a little over a year, and I am not sure how we functioned before she came. Thanks, Jennifer! -- Marisol Sepulveda

Cindy Ferguson: I would like to give a "Thumbs Up" to Cindy Ferguson in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. Cindy handles her normal job responsibilities as well as any other requests (of which there are many!) with great efficiency, timeliness, and always with a smile. She was recently handed the task of preparing for BME's participation in the annual Biomedical Engineering Society conference -- reserving cars and hotel rooms, preparing travel forms, communicating with the conference organizers, making arrangements for the Purdue BME booth, and more. She didn't attend the conference, but provided her cell phone number in case we had any questions or problems. Everything went very smoothly in large part due to her efforts. Thank you, Cindy, for all you do for BME! -- Sandy May

Lynn Rider: I would like to nominate Lynn Rider for a "Thumbs Up" award. Lynn has been extremely helpful to the Chemistry Business Office by her willingness to walk documents to and from other offices around campus. Lynn certainly makes our job easier and she does it with a smile! Thanks, Lynn, for all you do! -- Trisha Herrera
