Old phone books' recycling pickup to be Saturday

Purdue Recycling crews will collect old telephone directories Saturday (Oct. 31). This follows last week's distribution of new directories on campus.

Last year, people on campus helped send 13,598 pounds of phone directories to recycling instead of landfills.

For the Oct. 31 pickup, unneeded phone books, boxed or bundled, should be placed on loading docks or next to the outdoor green Purdue Recycling collection carts on Friday (Oct. 30). Covering the books against the weather is helpful.

Local phone directories will be distributed at another time, followed by a campus recycling pickup. In the past several years, local phone books have come in January or February.
