October 12, 2009 This week's 'Thumbs Up' recipients"Thumbs Up" gives faculty and staff the chance to recognize others on campus for a job well done. This week's "Thumbs Up" go to: Rob Barr and Steve Critser: Thank you for always being willing to help with anything that is needed -- especially for helping Wanitta get to her CSSAC meeting. -- Jaylene Nichols Michelle Spear: Thanks to Michelle Spear in Shared Service Center for all the processing of my PA's for payroll. She has made my payroll go smoothly with the entering of my new staff members with such quickness and accurateness. Without her hard work and attention it would have been difficult to get all our staff's hours entered in a timely manner. A big "Thumbs Up"" goes to her! -- Kathy Summerfield Janie Fischbach: I would like to nominate Janie Fischbach, coordinator of auxiliary services for the Disability Resource Center, for the time, energy and care she dedicates every day (especially this time of year) to ensuring that students with disabilities on this campus receive excellent, well-trained service providers to assist them in equally accessing their educational environment. While this office strives to provide all of our students with the adjustments, services and resources they need in a timely and welcoming manner, Janie really goes above and beyond to create "matches made in heaven." I always say that you are an angel, and I mean it! Thanks, Janie! -- Nicole Jasinski Purdue Operators: I would like to give a "Thumbs Up" to the Purdue Operators. They have helped me set up conference calls -- last minute on more than one occasion -- without so much as a grumble. Thank you! -- Jenni Mamph Kevin Spires: Kevin works in the Procurement Center of the Department of Chemistry. She is always helpful. If I have a question regarding placing an order or if I'm checking on an order, she is always willing to help. She is the first person you see when you walk into the Procurement Center, and she is always friendly and has a smile on her face. Thanks, Kevin! -- Connie Reynolds University Parents Steering Committee: Thanks to David Lasater and Annette Lamb in the VPSS Advancement Office for organizing a stellar meeting for a great group of parents on Sept. 18-19. Special kudos to support staff Evie McCord and Nancy Wolfe for making sure everything ran smoothly as well. Mary King in the Office of Marketing and Media did a tremendous job on the parents Web site and e-newsletter! The Special Events staff did a great job with the Family Day Pancake Breakfast too! -- Cheryl Altinkemer
