Update: Traffic, parking disruptions

Several possible disruptions due to construction and facilities projects are scheduled to begin today (Oct. 9) or by Monday, pending weather conditions:

-- The construction traffic route for the Roger B. Gatewood Wing of the Mechanical Engineering Building is to change for Saturday (Oct. 10) only such that contractors will enter and exit using University Street. This will allow application of a slip-resistant coating to the steel road plates on the normal approach from State Street through Centennial Mall.  On the same project, steel deliveries on very long trucks are now expected to begin Oct. 19. The postponement from next week is due to weather. Oct. 19 also is the scheduled date for a second crane to arrive.

-- North of Wetherill Laboratory, the drive between Wetherill (WTHR) and the North Heating and Power Plant (HPN) is to close today through Dec. 9 for a project. An alternative pedestrian path will be created and signage will be posted. The parking lot east of HPN and south of ENAD will remain accessible. -- At the west main entrance of Lilly Hall (facing State Street), part of the entrance is to be closed today through Oct. 23 for installation of an access ramp.

-- Sidewalks between Peirce Hall and Stanley Coulter Hall are to be closed for excavation work on a sewer beginning after 5 p.m. today and through Tuesday.

-- On the east side of Young Hall, the sidewalk is to be closed for repairs Monday and Tuesday.
