Wednesday, Oct. 7

-- Pre-enrollment benefits information session with CIGNA. HRS Staff Benefits. -- Breast Cancer Awareness Day events. Sigma Xi, Purdue Breast Cancer Discovery Group, and Purdue Center for Cancer Research. Two events: (1) Lecture by Mina Bissell, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Noon-1 p.m. Deans Auditorium, Pfendler Hall. Reception following. (2) Presentations by three women in Indiana who are involved in the fight against breast cancer: Dr. Sue Clare, Indiana University Simon Cancer Center, on "The Susan G. Komen for the Cure(r) Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Cancer Center: How Normal Breast Tissue Can Facilitate Breast Cancer Research"; Meghan McDonough, health and kinesiology, and Purdue Breast Cancer Discovery Group, on "Moving Forward: Physical Activity and Breast Cancer Survivorship"; and Claudia Kruggel, consumer advocate, member of Consumer Advocates in Research and Related Activities in the National Cancer Institute (NCI-CARRA), on "The Impact of Consumer Advocate Involvement in Research." 6-8 p.m. YWCA, 605 N. -- A Day in the Life brown bag lunch talk. Discussion of student experiences and identities. Office of the Dean of Students with others. Noon-1:30 p.m. on alternate Wednesdays. -- Puppy owner orientation session for owners and prospective owners. Animal Behavior Clinic. -- Women's Studies 2nd Annual Film Festival. Theme: "Iraq and Afghanistan: Women and the War on Terror." Women's Studies Program, others. Events are free unless noted (except that conference registrations may be omitted here). Ticket prices are for single events, not any series or discount offers. An exception to the following will be noted in the listing.

For varsity athletics tickets, call the Athletic Ticket Office, (765) 494-3194 or (800) 49-SPORT [497-7678]; or visit the office in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events at IAF, Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium. For ticketed sports events at other Purdue venues, tickets will be on sale before the event at the venue. More at www.purduesports.com.

For Purdue Convocations and Purdue Theatre events and some others as announced, go to ticket offices in Elliott Hall (lower level, northeast end by Hovde Hall) or Stewart Center (west lobby), or call (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW [914-7469]. The Elliott Hall box office is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there. The Stewart Center box office is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there.

Purdue Theatre tickets are sold also at the Pao Hall box office. It is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there.
