Thursday, Oct. 1

-- College Teaching Workshop Series 2: Expanding Your Teaching Toolkit. "The Top Ten Mistakes Teachers Make." Tom Turpin, entomology. For faculty, staff and grad students. -- Krannert Leadership Speaker Series scholarship dinner. Krannert School of Management. 6:30-9 p.m. Keynote speaker: Elaine Chao, former U.S. secretary of labor. Ticket sales ended Sept. 11.

-- Talk on Tennessee Williams. Tom Adler, professor emeritus of English. 6:30 p.m. Mallett Theatre, Pao Hall. This event is free. It is in conjunction with Sept. 25-Oct. 4 Purdue Theatre production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Williams; see separate listing for that event. -- Exhibition: “Living Stone: The Casts Project.” Purdue University Galleries. Setting in keeping with studio practice, using prints by Jim Dine, plaster casts, and artworks from classes and visitors. -- John Purdue Room Lunch Special. This week, the featured specials in the John Purdue Room are broccoli cheddar (soup) and penna alla vodka (entrée). 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Stone Hall. Events are free unless noted (except that conference registrations may be omitted here). Ticket prices are for single events, not any series or discount offers. An exception to the following will be noted in the listing.

For varsity athletics tickets, call the Athletic Ticket Office, (765) 494-3194 or (800) 49-SPORT [497-7678]; or visit the office in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility. The office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and before ticketed events at IAF, Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium. For ticketed sports events at other Purdue venues, tickets will be on sale before the event at the venue. More at www.purduesports.com.

For Purdue Convocations and Purdue Theatre events and some others as announced, go to ticket offices in Elliott Hall (lower level, northeast end by Hovde Hall) or Stewart Center (west lobby), or call (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW [914-7469]. The Elliott Hall box office is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there. The Stewart Center box office is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there.

Purdue Theatre tickets are sold also at the Pao Hall box office. It is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours before ticketed events there.
