Purdue to host expo for future graduate students

More than 50 institutions of higher education will converge on the Purdue campus during the Big 10+ Graduate School Exposition on Sept. 27-28.

The event, which will be in Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom, is a cooperative effort to provide students with information about graduate education and will feature several activities.

Students interested in pursuing graduate study in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, pharmaceutical science, and related disciplines will have a chance to talk to faculty and students from various institutions. Workshops on funding graduate study, applying to graduate school, and careers in related fields also will be presented.

National Science Foundation representatives will have a presentation on its Graduate Research Fellowship program and other governmental programs. A roundtable brunch with recruiters from some of the nationÕs top institutions also will occur.

"This is wonderful opportunity for students to obtain comprehensive information about graduate education and research opportunities at a variety of graduate institutions," said Dana Werner, director of recruitment services at Purdue. "By attending the expo, they can talk to professors, current graduate students, and staff about graduate school and what steps are necessary to set them on the path they choose."

Purdue students have two options for attending the expo. They may attend Monday's graduate school fair for free with their Purdue ID, or they may participate in all expo events, including workshops, meals, and roundtable discussions, and pay the regular registration fee of $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Purdue students may visit the special Purdue student registration site www.gradschool.purdue.edu/gradexpo/purduestudents for details. More information about the event is also available online at www.purdue.edu/gradexpo.
