ProSTAR to host professional development workshops

The Center for Professional Studies in Technology and Applied Research (ProSTAR) at Purdue's College of Technology is hosting four professional development workshops this fall.

The cost to attend each two-day workshop is $895 for the general public. Purdue employees will receive a discount.

The workshops, dates, and descriptions are:

* Organizational Process Improvement and CMMI Seminar, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. This seminar will provide insights into improving the processes of a business or organization by using the proven best practices described in the Capability Maturity Model Integration, or CMMI. This presentation uses portions of the Technical Report CMU/SEI-2006-TR-008 (c) 2006 by Carnegie Mellon University; however, neither Carnegie Mellon University nor its Software Engineering Institute have reviewed this presentation and accordingly do not directly or indirectly endorse this presentation. CMMI is a registered trademark of Carnegie Mellon University.

* Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training, Oct. 14-15. This two-day seminar will go through the basics of Six Sigma and the DMAIC process (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control).

* Program Management: A Comprehensive Overview of the Discipline Workshop, Oct. 21-22. Participants in this workshop will be introduced to the theory, methods and qualitative and quantitative tools used to plan, organize and control projects effectively.

* Inspection of Public Works Construction Projects, Nov. 23-24. This workshop will help inspectors effectively manage risk, minimize disputes, interpret common technical specifications and develop reliable professional judgment.
